75 YEARS ON TWO WHEELS
 History of AMCC Inc.
 1926 - 2001
 By Calum Gilmour.

The people who ride motor cycles are often strongly individual characters and the story of the Club as told here is very much the story of the members over the years. Here you will find entertainment, amusement, tragedy, achievement. The story of the Club reflects the changes that have occurred within NZ society and this is a focus of the history.

  About the club

The Auckland Motorcycle Club was founded in 1930 and since that time has been actively involved in the promotion of all aspects of motorcycling, with a strong emphasis on organised motorcycle sport, particularly road racing, together with the activities associated with motorcycling safety and the promotion of a good public image for motorcycling.

The Auckland Motorcycle Club fosters new riders and provides events suitable for all abilities.
When you join a motorcycle club you gain inside information on motorcycle events, opportunities to learn riding techniques and motorcycle tuning / setting up. Not to mention making new friends and some great social occasions.

  So Start racing

A competition licence is required for all forms of competition, such as Road Racing. An application form for the licence can be obtained once you have joined the club. The cost of the licence is NZ$40 for the year, this provides you with top-up medical coverage should you be injured at an organised race meeting.

  Club nights

Every Thursday night our club rooms are open from 7:30pm at 6 Findlay Street, Ellerslie, Auckland 5.
Videos of International Events screened, featuring 500cc Grand Prix's and World Superbike Championships, some not screened on NZ Television. Often technical evenings are organised where valuable information can be obtained, for example on new machinery, safety equipment etc.

  Road Racing

Auckland Motorcycle Club organises 4 or 5 events a year at Pukekohe Grand Prix Circuit, the most prestigious of these being the New Zealand Tourist Trophy event, usually held in December each year. All events held cater for all levels of experience from the novice to those who have competed internationally, and all classes of road racing machinery from 125cc Racing to superbikes, lest we forget the classics, post classics and BEARS classes

  Minature Road Racing

If the budget won't stretch to fit your dreams or aspirations, try this for a fun form of road racing. A competitive machine can be built or purchased ready to race for as little as NZ$500.00 and naturally the maintenance costs are drastically less than other forms.

Classes catered for here are:

  • Formula 4 - 51cc to 100cc 2 stroke or 150cc 4 stroke solo bikes.
  • Formula 5 - 0cc to 50cc 2 stroke or 100cc 4 stroke solo Bikes.
  • F4 Sidecars 0 to 100cc 2 stroke or 150cc 4 stroke

.
These events are currently held at Mount Wellington Kart Track which is both demanding, challenging and naturally a lot of fun. Again, we cater for all levels of ability and experience.
